For anyone more interested in mountaineering than peak-bagging, you will find your reward in many less-traveled aesthetic routes in the Colorado 13ers. I originally was attracted to the 14ers. Now I have not done that for most of the climbs i have done and have on occasion been a bit confused, but overall i do like the book and i have done all but 15 peaks in the book I got this book because it has a few summits that aren't even mentioned in Roach's Colorado Thirteeners book. I've hiked half of the Bicentennials. Also, there is no ranking system for difficulty. The guide lists several couloir routes, but should not be considered a sole resource for spring or winter climbing. So far I have climbed five of the peaks in this book and have yet to see anyone above tree line.

A few years ago I discovered this high 13er book and think the two are a must have for any serious high peak fan. Talus type slopes may become so steep that you'll take two steps forward and slide back one. Garratt and Martin's route descriptions are generally adequate, if somewhat lacking in detail.
